CSA lead Cyber Cheltenham Cyber Skills and Education Event

Cyber Cheltenham (CyNam) is a non-profit making organisation based in the heart of the UK’s cyber security community in Cheltenham.

The goal of CyNam is to bring together the best technology minds from local SME’s, start-ups and larger companies to fully harness the rich cyber security ecosystem that flourishes around Cheltenham, the home of the National Technical Authority for Information Security, GCHQ.

Dave Woodfine, Director of CSA and Madeline Howard, Business Development Manager at CSA both sit on the CyNam Board. Madeline and Dave organised the most recent CyNam, CyNam 18.2 – Cyber Skills and Education. This was an important topic given their involvement with the NCSC Cyber Schools Hub.

CyNam 18.2 was held in conjunction with the Cheltenham Science Festival in the Cyber Zone. The evening included an impressive line of up of speakers and panelists; Chris Ensor (Deputy Director NCSC), Buck Rogers (Bank of England CISO), Dr Jessica Barker, Rebekka Bishop (Northrup Grumman and STEM Gloucestershire), Alan Johnson (Principal at Newent Community School) and Paul Ramage (Principal at the UTC Berkeley Green).

A number of cyber related topics were presented and discussed, including gender diversity in the cyber industry, igniting the cyber spark in young people and the Cyber Hub Initiatives in Gloucestershire.
